Happy 15th Braden!

August 18, 1999  6:01 am
The day I became a Mom. I'll never forget when they placed you in my arms...you weren't crying at all, you just stared at me :)
Hope you have an awesome birthday son!
We love you!

A couple of pages from Heston's birthday :)

seven

Happy 7th Birthday Heston!
We are so grateful for this kid. He's been mellow and chill since he was a baby. So mellow and chill that it worried me. But no, that is just his little personality, he just goes with the flow. I admire his determination and how hard he works in school...and this kid can swing a golf club! :)
We love you Heston!
I think H looks like Aaron...with brown eyes :)

fourteen

Happy 14th Birthday Braden!
Of course, I love this boy. He's my eldest son and I'm his mom so of course I love him. However, I have to say that I really LIKE this boy. He laughs at my jokes, and I laugh at his. He keeps it real and lets me know, in a polite way, when I need to stop and take some deep breaths. I'm not afraid to admit when I am wrong and I apologize. He does the same.
I enjoy his company. He's a great young man and I'm honored to be his mom.
We were poor college students and I had a coupon so I went to JCPenney and had these pictures taken. It was a huge sacrifice at the time but I'm so glad we had these taken!
This is us at age 14 :)

May 2013 part 1

It's been a while! We had quite a few things in April and May that have kept us busy. SUMMER is here and we are sooooo excited! We decided to try planting a little garden this year. It produced a few little tomatoes and onions and then it just didn't like us anymore. It didn't like me...I'm horrible with plants and gardens! I killed a ficus tree that a teacher gave me as well :( We'll try again next year!

Soccer season at school just ended. Braden recruited his best friend Tyler to play this year. They had an inexperienced team so it lead to some frustrating moments for him. I think he learned (I hope) some things through the experience...
and he's getting really good at ignoring me :)

Heston has never had a big birthday party. His birthday is in August and right when school begins and I have been a slacker about following through with a big friend party. So we decided to have an early birthday party for him. He invited all the boys in his class and then some. I rented a room at the McQueen rec center and it has to be hands down one of the smartest decisions I've made in a while :)
It was a Teenage Mutant Ninja Party theme that Paige and I planned, Heston loves the Ninja turtles. I have no pictures of the cute games we made, the fun popcorn mix we made for each boy or of the gifts Heston received. A Pinterest worthy party? Far from it.
It was insanity at its finest and the boys had a blast :)
Just as I was telling the moms about how the boys couldn't possible destroy the place, a ball was kicked up to the ceiling and one of the tiles got jacked up :)
I really have to give Paige some serious credit for this party, I couldn't have done it without her. She's creative and she knew just what those boys would love. She should start a party planning business! Thank you Paigey! :)
Aaron and Braden swept in with the pizza (after all, that's what ninja turtles eat) and took a turn with the kids too. It was a family effort for sure. We all slept well that night :)

My only request for Mothers Day was some pictures with my kids
It was a good day :)

January fun stuff

Braden has been doing this everytime I bring out the camera...

 B's beloved bracelets
 Surprises from Papa and Gaga
Aaron has been gone to China for business. It was so nice to have a visit from Mom and Dad. We had a great time and they loved the awesome weather. Mom's birthday was on the 19th so we got her a Nothing Bundt cake. It was so good!

I got to be a chaperone for the 5th Grade field trip. We went to Local Motors and the kids got to learn about cars. It was really fun, the kids loved it.

Each group got to design a car. I think this was their favorite part

After Local Motors, we found a park to eat lunch. I'm glad I got the day off so I could go :)

Happy 6th Birthday H!

Happy 6th Birthday!
This kid has been counting down his birthday for 3 months, he just couldn't wait to be 6 :)
He is just so much fun and it's so hard to believe he's in 1st grade.

officially a teenager

Are you really 13?!
Happy Birthday B!
He has grown up so much this year. This summer and especially since I've started working, he has really stepped up and has helped out so much! Cooking meals to babysitting...I honestly don't know what I would do without him.
I love you B

2012 Summer vacation part 3 NYC!

So after saying goodbye to our kids (I was so anxious about leaving the kids for 10 days. That's a long time! However, I knew they were in good hands) we flew to
New York City!!
Day 1: a view from the taxi
Greenpoint Brooklyn. This is Heidi and Steve's neighborhood
 Aaron and Heidi
from a pier in Brooklyn just a few blocks from their place
This is one of the 9-11 towers
Steve is the best guide. He was born and raised in Brooklyn and he knows where everything is. And he is one of the nicest guys around :) We enjoyed the city but I have to say that hanging out with Steve and Heidi was one of my favorite things about our trip
 walking...we walked a lot
 Times Square

 more Times Square...
or as a I like to call it "Vegas on steroids" :) It was cool to experience but it wasn't my favorite part of NYC...

Aaron scored us tickets to the David Letterman Show. We were in the 2nd row right in front of the band. I was sitting in the aisle where Letterman usually walks into the audience. But he didn't walk down :( They were awesome seats and it was a really fun experience. Ray Romano was the guest that night, he was hilarious :)

While we were waiting for the show, we split a cupcake :) We walked so much I had no guilt about the delicious food that we ate ;)

Since we were close to Broadway, we decided to take in a show. We saw Peter and the Star Catcher. It was a prequel story about Peter Pan.

Heidi and Steve's street. We would get some food and drinks from this little store on the corner. Have I mentioned how much I loved Brooklyn?! I love Brooklyn :)
Day 2:
Bryant Park!! Home of NY Fashion Week! (you know how much I love Project Runway :)

 Empire State Building

 a visit to the Met

The place was so massive! Beautiful works of art around every corner...
When I reached the Edgar Degas area I actually teared up :)

Van Gogh is another favorite. Who doesn't love Van Gogh?! :)

 Central Park

 FAO Schwarz
 Happy Birthday Aaron!
H&S surprised us with donuts from
(Tina Fey loves them too:)
and they were oh so delicious...
YUM!!

to be continued...
