yours truly at 14

A couple of years ago I saw an article in Creating Keepsakes magazine that inspired me to put this layout together. The title of this page is "Me at 14".

Why would I choose to do a layout about myself at the most gawky, insecure stage of my life? Because I survived it. Amen and Hallelujah.

We've all been there...you know what I'm talking about. I'm just glad I had a great group of friends ;)

Lemonade!

The kids and their lemonade stand. Anything that is positive and keeps the kids busy I strongly support :)

Putting this layout together makes me excited for summer! I just love yellow...it's my favorite color.

Teacher Appreciation Week

Teacher Appreciation Week is next week. (May 2-6th) As I've mentioned before, my committee on FPAC (our school's PTA) is Teacher Appreciation. I'm always on the lookout for ideas and cute things to do for the teachers. I wanted to share with you a couple of websites I've come across in case you need an idea. I will say this...I am not afraid of being cheesy. Last year, I put some apples and carmel dip together and wrote a note that said, 'You're the apple of our eye'. It's true though! I love teachers and admire the work they do.
Here are some ideas:

going vertical

Thank you Janet Phillips for your time-saving 2 page templates! Another fun thing to do with a template is to switch things around so that you can create different layouts with just 1 template. I took this template and rotated it so it's vertical. I also changed a few of the photo layers. This is my first vertical 2 page layout:

The Jets - Crush on You (1986)

Here's one of my favorite songs by The Jets...this brings back some awesome memories!

back to the 80's!

The theme for this years Family Fun Night at the school was "Back to the 80s"! I forget what an awesome era it was...we had so much fun! I found a Galaga t-shirt for B and a Thriller era MJ t-shirt for P that she really wanted. I also wanted an MJ shirt but I wore my beloved Jets t-shirt from 1988. My uncle Kelly (we are 9 years apart, he's more of an older brother to me) went to their concert and bought it for me. I'm also wearing my charm necklace from 1985. I should have been prepared and bought some AquaNet so that I could make our hair BIG! Paige was not having it though :)

I had a blast dancing to 80's music and being silly with the kids.

Now we need to have a back to the 90's night...I've got a killer southwestern MC Hammer get-up that I rocked in 1991 that would be the envy of everyone! :)

want a good cry?

A mom named Heather wrote this note to her boys. It would be a crying shame not to share it with you...

March twenty eleven

I usually organize my pictures in months on my computer so I just opened some of my favorites for the month of March and created this layout. It came together pretty quickly (templates save so much time!) I filled some of the squares with patterned paper and stamped the circles with a brush. Most of the pictures were taken with Aaron's phone and Braden's itouch so the quality isn't awesome. But hey! At least the memories were captured :0)

There are always sales going on in the digi world. If you're interested you can sign up for email updates. If I'm going to be an enabler, I at least want you to get a good deal :)

Bear Lake family reunion 2010

This was such a fun family reunion! The grandkids are all growing up and watching them interact with each other was my favorite part of the whole reunion. I love those kids, they get along so great. I took lots of pictures so I'm going to do a few more layouts.

Myself

The kids memorize and recite poems each quarter at school. Braden recited this poem a couple of days ago and it has helped him this week as he's had to learn some life lessons. We can draw so much inspiration and truth from poetry...

Myself

by Edgar Guest

I have to live with myself and so

I want to be fit for myself to know.

I want to be able as days go by

Always to look myself in the eye.

I don't want to stand with the setting sun

And hate myself for the things I've done.

I don't want to keep on a closet shelf

A lot of secrets about myself

And fool myself as I come and go

Into thinking that nobody else will know

The kind of person I really am.

I don't want to dress up myself in sham.

I want to go out with my head erect.

I want to deserve all others' respect.

But here in the struggle for fame and wealth

I want to be able to like myself.

I don't want to look at myself and know

That I'm bluster and bluff, an empty show.

I could never hide myself from me.

I see what others may never see.

I know what others may never know.

I never can fool myself, and so

Whatever happens, I want to be

Self-respecting and conscience-free.

Thanks Cathy

Cathy Zielske is a graphic designer and scrapbooker that's been around for a while. I really love her simple and clean designs. I also love her approach to life, she keeps it real and I appreciate that. I adore everything about this layout...
