Ostrich Festival 5k 2014

The Ostrich Festival 5k is a fun family activity that we like to participate in. The weather was nice and cool and we were done with the race when it started to really pour :) It had been 70+ days since we got rain so we really needed it!

 I was in front of Heston and Aaron and I took this picture as I was passing them. Heston wanted to pass me and he did :) I'm more of a jogger than a runner. I run 11:45-12:00 minute miles and I'm okay with that.

 Paige took 3rd in her age division :)

 Braden took first in his age division with a time of 21:38. He took 16th place overall! It's all that soccer he plays :) He's thinking about doing Cross Country next year so we'll see...

 

Dobson JV Soccer

Braden finished up his first year of high school soccer. It was a fun and busy season :) The JV team's record was 7 wins 3 losses.

San Diego New Year's trip

 After Christmas, we took a little trip to San Diego. Our friend Katrell suggested we visit Coronado beach and I'm glad we did. What a beautiful place! We also went to the San Diego Zoo and then drove up to Temecula to spend New Year's Eve with Matt and Alisha's family. Happy New Year!

Welcome 2014!

Welcome 2014! It's been so awesome to have the kids all to ourselves for 2 weeks. We really needed a break from the craziness of everything and I have really enjoyed the break from driving all over the place. When your kid(s) start high school, it becomes really hard to spend time with them because they have a lot going on. It's making me sad that we only have a few more years and Braden will be off to college...the days are long but the years are short...
Christmas was great! Here are the last of my December Daily layouts. I'm waiting until Persnickety Prints has their next sale to get these printed off. Going to Golfland during December has become one of our new favorite traditions. I love Christmas so much...it's always sad when it's over. 

December Daily 2013 pages

Oh my goodness! What a crazy month it's been! I haven't been feeling well today so it gave me an excuse to sit down and finish my pages. I may simplify even more next year, I guess I'll just play it by ear.

It's so nice to have a break from the craziness of life and to focus on spending time with the family.

December is HERE!!!

I'm so excited for Christmas and I'm also excited to start December Daily 2013! Is anyone else doing a December Daily album? Every year when I start, it's a little overwhelming. Remembering to jot down the things we do each day and taking pics. But, when I bring out the albums from the years past and see our whole family enjoying them, it's so worth it!! I know when my kids are grown and have families of their own, I will be so glad I documented their childhoods at Christmastime. So that keeps me going :)
I'm sticking with the same 5.5x8.5 size this year and same templates. I buy the 5.5x8.5 albums at Staples in either red or green. They aren't pretty but they are sturdy and they've held up well. I'll post some of my layouts throughout the month.

We were up early this morning for Braden's soccer game. I haven't had a lot of time to just sit and scrapbook. Today, I did!!
